This book is intended to present a quick and informative look at public administration principles
and how they are often applied in public institutions, particularly the public library environment.
Rather than attempting to be a “how to” manual or a de tailed text book, this book is intended to provide brief snap shots of the topic at hand. The reader will find general and basic guide lines, fundamentals, and rationale that will help library professionals who are less familiar with the field of public administration find logical answers to administrative questions be yond the standard, “because that’s the way it has to be done.” Perhaps the reader needs to refresh skills he or she once knew, or perhaps the interested student wants a step ping stone of sorts to begin learning more on the topic. Whatever the reason, it is assumed that students will enhance the knowledge obtained through this book with supplemental material on specific topics of interest or need.
