Steven J. Miller

Steven Miller is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Information Studies. He teaches MLIS and continuing education courses in information and knowledge organization, metadata, taxonomies, cataloging, and information architecture. Steven holds a B.A. in English, with a minor in Greek and Latin, from the University of Iowa, an M.A. and all-but-dissertation for a Ph.D. in religious studies from Marquette University, and an M.L.I.S. from UW-Milwaukee. He has given numerous conference presentations and has developed workshop materials published by the Library of Congress and OCLC. Steven has served on committees and held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including Chair of the ALCTS Metadata Interest Group, Co-Chair of the Wisconsin Heritage Online Metadata Working Group, President of the Online Audiovisual Catalogers (OLAC), and Chair of the Library of Congress PCC Task Group on Training for Integrating Resources. In his spare time he enjoys books, movies, bicycling, travel, and performing arts.
